This is how you create the hair look of the BALMAIN Spring/Summer 2022 collection show

During the Paris Fashion Week BALMAIN Spring/Summer 2022 collection show, top designer Olivier Rousteing celebrated his 10 year anniversary for BALMAIN. The two-day festival was in a beautiful location in the middle of the Seine, La Seine Musicale. Hairstylist Fiona Franchimon worked backstage on this impressive production, with more than eighty top models, a team of forty hairstylists and more than a hundred dressers, and explains how to get the BALMAIN Spring/Summer 2022 hair look.

“The hair was inspired by how the hair falls naturally, with a personal touch. Hair and clothes really complemented each other. It was a feast for the eyes," says Fiona Franchimon about the show. “This was the first big show for me since covid. It was great to work together again with a large crew and international hairstylist friends on such an impressive show, where the entire press was allowed to be present.”

Hair fashion trend 2022

Fiona highlights the striking change of creativity and individualism coming fashion season. “Everyone wants to be seen again with elegant, striking and fashionable hair.”

The hairstyles we saw at the BALMAIN fashion show are wearable and fairly easy to recreate at home if you follow these steps:

The created look:
1. Prep the hair with a heat protectant for the quality of the hair. It is important that the roots retain their natural volume.
2. Make a center parting of about 8cm that stops just before the crown.
3. Dampen the hair with a strengthener and make sure the natural fall does its job.
4. It is important to comb the hair so that it follows the shape of the head and body.

Fiona has been working as a hairstylist for more than ten years during the Paris, Milan and New York fashion week on more than a hundred different shows. She is also the creator of the Fiona Franchimon Nº1 Hairpin: the Hairpin that has become an international beauty routine for many women in, among others, the Danish royal family, but also for example for Topmodel Natalia Vodianova who this week mentioned the hairpin to the Vogue YouTube channel as 'the ultimate beauty tool'. She always carries it with her, so she can style her hair in an elegant way.
