When Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club premiered on August 28th, one detail instantly caught our attention. Right from the opening scenes, the Nº1 Hairpin shines in Celia Imrie’s elegant high bun as she steps into the role of Joyce Meadowcroft. As the film unfolds, the Nº1 Hairpin appears again and again, becoming a quiet but unmistakable part of her signature look.
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of sending a PR-package of our Nº1 Hairpins to the hair department working on the production. To now see the Nº1 Hairpin styled so seamlessly on screen and on Celia Imrie no less feels like the most rewarding full-circle moment.
What we love is how naturally it fits Joyce’s character. She’s warm and witty, understated yet quietly striking, and the Nº1 Hairpin mirrors exactly that. It’s not loud or showy, but it’s there in scene after scene, her signature High Bun look created with the Nº1 Hairpins, that completes her look.
Spotting it in the film reminded us of why we design the way we do: elegant and easy hairstyles with a strong hold.
